Travel informations:
Dear friends, in September you will pass through Stockholm on your way to Åland. (If you have the possibility: Take some time to visit Stockholm too on your way to or from the EBN-congress!)
There are many ways to go from Stockholm to Åland. On Åland you can end up in two different ports, but it is not very far from the place where the EBN-congress will be held. When you choose which boat to take, it is mainly a question of what time you can leave Stockholm, when you want to arrive on Åland, and how much time you want to spend on the boat. The boat that goes through the archipelago of Stockholm takes longer time, but gives you a beautiful journey, and it starts in the center of Stockholm. You need to take a bus from the center of Stockholm to get the boat that gives you a shorter boat-ride. The price is not too high whichever boat you choose.
This information is rather vague, but the fact is that there are so many boats every day to Åland. We suggest you go to the web-site: www.visitaland.com There you can find information in different languages. Here is some basic information:
Take the ferry to Åland. A comfortable voyage with good food and entertainment onboard brings you quickly and conveniently to Åland. Onboard you can also admire the sea view and shop tax-free goods. The ferries make port at Åland about 30 times daily.
When you travel from Sweden the journey is just 2-2.5 quick hours from Grisslehamn or Kapellskär. The short voyage is especially suitable for families and if you travel to Åland with your own car.
If you want more time for entertainment and experiences onboard, the ferries also offer several daily departures from Stockholm. With the larger cruise ships the ferry ride is about 6 hours. You can go directly to the web-site of some of the ferries:
Viking Line http://www.sales.vikingline.com/en/international/find-your-trip/
Tallink Silja Line http://www.tallinksilja.com/en/web/int/book-a-cruise-to/from-aland-islands
Eckerö Line https://www.eckerolinjen.se/sv/boka/ruttresa/resa/?section=boattrip&traveltype=car
Welcome to Stockholm and Åland!
Yours sincerely,
Eva Danneholm and Lotta Geisler
